Design Trends: Kitchen

The Kiln Design Studio, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn has succeeded in making the old new again. Founders Elissa Ehlin and Jay Leritz have taken the 10th-century Byzantine art of enameling, once synonymous with Art Deco as well as mid-century modern, and given it a contemporary bent. Their sculpture, mobiles, jewelry and tableware are handmade by firing stained-glass enamel onto copper in-you guessed it- a kiln ($70-$196 for items shown). 718-456-6722; kilnenamel.com.
